Updates! I’m not on a planned-hiatus. It’s just that I’ve been lazy to write news or lengthy reviews but if you follow my twitter, I’m still an active fangirl of Jasper Liu and I often write my short thoughts on certain dramas. I was pretty addicted to c-dramas My Sunshine (何以笙簫默) and Grow Up (長大) a while ago but now, since they’ve finished airing, I’ve lost my drama obsessions and I’m just casually watching a few Taiwanese and Korean dramas such as Kill Me, Heal Me, The New World (新世界) and Dear Mom (我的寶貝四千金) but I’m not addicted to them enough to write a lengthy review. I’ll probably write a compilation review on the c-dramas I finished watching soon but for now, I’m back to be a full-time fangirl of Jasper.
It wasn’t my intention to fill the ‘blogging’ section with my bias, Jasper Liu but as he was featured on the cover of Spop (華流) magazine several times, October 2013, July 2014, August 2014 and now, the latest special February Lunar New Year issue, I keep blogging a lot about him (on my personal purchases). The Spop crew must really adore him because this special issue is basically a mini photobook of Jasper in collaboration with the exhibition works of Japanese artist, Yayoi Kusama who is currently holding her art exhibition in Taiwan. Yayoi Kusama is known for her polka dots and colorful art styles and the latest Spop issue features Jasper Liu playing in the wonderland of the eccentric artist.
I’m not kidding when I’m saying that this issue is a mini photobook of Jasper as every page is filled with him (minus a few pages of advertisements) and it’s obvious that I’m Jasper-biased so the selfish me love that he don’t have to share the magazine spreads with his co-stars or other celebs, haha! Plus, it’s bigger than the regular Spop issue (but also thinner in comparison, less pages but more Jasper-centric). It also features a small interview on him talking about his upcoming drama, My Ghostly Friend (我的鬼基友), which have recently wrapped up filming and is slated to air somewhere in April.
I have a love-hate relationship with Spop magazine because they know how to milk my money. You see this collection of Spop magazines? They earned A LOT of my money and still, I’m planning to buy a few more older spop issues that features Jasper on the cover. They’re extremely good at marketing and they know what fans like me want on their cover, sigh…
These inside pages are taken with my canon dslr, the light reflection is more obvious in dark colored pages but the white-colored pages look even better than scans. I edited these with photoshop to reduce the light reflection and made some touch ups on the colors and size. Pardon me for the low quality pictures.
If anyone is interested in the original edited version (without watermark and larger resolution), I can share the link privately with you (through email) if you leave a comment or email me.
Set 1: Illuminating Dots
Personally, I’m in love with the way he’s styled in this set of pictures, it makes him look tall and showcased his great body proportion. I love the colorful polka dots projected in the dark room. Plus, he’s actually acting cool and not cute (which is rare for Jasper, lol)…
Set 2: Bright Pumpkin
So fun! But the light reflection on the pages have reduced the quality T_T.
Set 3: Freckled and Colored
This is SO eccentric! Colored contact lens, brown eyebrow + colorful freckles on his cheeks, that’s pretty unique.
Set 5: Endless Light Reflections
Love the setting of this set of pictures but they made his eyebrow look too thick that he look strange in some pictures (especially the 3rd picture), haha!
Set 6: Red is Feminine
Jasper posted a few pictures of him wearing long-hair wigs lately on his instagram and it’s all taken from this set of pictures. It’s definitely unique and he looks like some Japanese rocker, ha!
Set 7: Crooked Waves
I love his suit in this set of pictures.
Set 8: Jasper in Polkaland
I’m in love with this set, it’s like a polka dot wonderland, so colorful and CUTE! His bulky costume is definitely not your everyday-wear but it suits the playful polka dot photo set.
Apparently there’s two sets of posters included, one is the one that I got, Jasper, which you can only get it through physical and online bookstores. The other set of poster is the YiFei couple (Joanne Tseng and Melvin Sia) from SETTV’s hit daily drama, Dear Mom, which can only be bought from Seven-Eleven stores in Taiwan. I thought it’s a strange marketing as it doesn’t make sense to include YiFei posters because this issue is filled with Jasper and not a single column is talking about them. I pity fans of YiFei couple who specially bought this magazine to get their posters…
It’s a double-sided poster.
